Our client is a global wholesale banking business based in the City.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform transaction monitoring and screening alert adjudication and / or provide guidance and management of these tasks
Ensure the business conducted is in compliance with the UK and other relevant AML and CTF related regulations and the Bank’s AML/CTF policies and procedures. This may include the formulation of desktop procedures
Providing AML/ KYC/ ASF advice to Business in Japan in relation to the risks associated with new products and new businesses to design the necessary mitigating controls related to KYC/ASF risks.
Manage AML escalations and issues
Assist in the review and approval high risk client escalations
Assist and advise the business areas on AML related aspects, during the setting up new business procedures and processes
Ensure that any potentially suspicious transactions identified locally or via monitoring tools are immediately investigated, documented and if deemed suspicious, escalated to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer Regional for reporting to National Crime Agency (NCA) and Primary contact for any investigation, co-ordination or suspicious client/transaction emanating from the CM division
Track and assist in the completion of AML issues, self-identified or identified through regulatory or internal audit reviews
Provide monthly/quarterly/annual updates and metrics for inclusion within appropriate management reports (e.g. AML Report for the London Risk Management Committee)
Demonstrate a working understanding of JMLSG Guidance
Conduct quality assurance of customer AML/KYC reviews of clients of all risk ratings prepared by other KYC members with a focus on special purpose vehicles, non-financial businesses, holding companies, managed mutual funds, managed funds, standalone funds, banks and financial institutions across all jurisdictions (including correspondent banking relationships).
Maintain the London AML SharePoint
Maintain the London Capital Markets (AML Policy) portal
Perform ongoing monitoring (active testing) of key AML/Sanctions controls executed by all business segments
Test control processes to ensure compliance with sanctions and terrorist financing regulations- including all new accounts scanned against the regulated sanctions lists
Maintain information and databases including client files and records pertaining to name scanning adjudication and maintaining transaction monitoring at an acceptable
Actively develop subject matter expertise on an ongoing basis; attending webcasts, workshops and other training events as appropriate to improve AML knowledge and understanding
Assist with audit planning, preparation, and participation
Provide assistance on AML and special projects as needed
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Japanese Language – desirable
Ability to read and understand the Japan AML related laws and regulations- desirable
Generalist AML experience, Transaction monitoring or similar experience in a risk management field (NOT KYC EXPEREINCE)
Demonstrate knowledge of UK and international AML/CTF related regulation / guidance, and its application, UK and international economic/financials sanctions
Strong interpersonal skills to enable the building of strong, open dialogue-based relationships with relevant stakeholders, while working independently and with minimum direction
An understanding of the legal and compliance issues of complex banking organizations
An understanding of capital markets and investment banking products and services
Sound knowledge of the wide range, and complex variety, of fund/corporate structures
Working knowledge of applicable Bank systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of the testing and audit functions
