Our client is a large successful international bank, devoting a long history of success across the global market, that have offices based in the City.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and conduct independent Compliance Monitoring reviews as assigned from the annual plan, in line with the Compliance Monitoring Methodology. This includes the ability to lead and/or participate as part of a team in the delivery of risk-based reviews.
Develop and maintain effective business relationships and partnerships with areas subject to review, to ensure mutual understanding of review scope, procedure and reporting approach.
Work collaboratively with the business stakeholders at all stages of the review, agreeing issues and the appropriate remedial actions in a timely manner.
Produce a draft report for each review engagement, clearly articulating the issue, root cause and the agreed management actions with realistic timescales agreed with stakeholders for implementation.
Effective documentation of review work performed at every stage of the review in a manner which enables effective re-performance by interested parties.
Driving a culture of quality delivery in the team, undertaking proactive steps to enhance quality delivery.
Ensure business knowledge, processes and controls are accurately and proportionately assessed against regulatory and internal compliance standards.
Apply strong analytical reasoning skills to risk-rate outcomes and determine the level of impact of issues identified.
Risk-assess the business undertaken and operational practices for consideration of inclusion in the Compliance monitoring programme.
Ensure actions are tracked to completion, and support is provided as necessary, for example, liaison with and the introduction of the business to subject matter experts who can provide them with guidance.
Ensure business managers understand the issues and their ownership of compliance risk and financial crime risk, to enable resolution of any issues identified through relevant actions.
Collate periodic reports for, Head of Department, Senior Management and the Compliance Committee which are clear, succinct and proportionate in their presentation of progress of the Compliance Monitoring Programme and the findings. Where necessary, ensure clear, timely escalation of issues to ensure the Head of Financial Crime & Compliance and the relevant Head of Department can provide support and further upward notification of significant issues.
Maintain knowledge and understanding of UK regulations affecting the Wholesale, Commercial and Retail Banking businesses.
Deputise for the Compliance Monitoring Team leader as required, and representing the team in attending committee meetings and other forums as appropriate.
Someone from a Compliance Monitoring or Internal Audit, with Financial Crime expertise/background will be most suitable for this role
Proven experience working in Internal Audit and/or Compliance Monitoring environment, preferably in the banking sector.
Good working knowledge of the regulatory environment in the UK, EMEA and other extraterritorial regulations (for example Dodd- Frank)
Good understanding and working knowledge of the UK AML, CTF, Sanctions, ABC, Fraud and Tax Evasion regimes, including applicable standards such as the UK Joint Money Laundering Steering Group (‘JMLSG’) Guidance
Well-developed report writing skills
Drafting Procedures
Demonstrable planning and organisation skills, including resource planning
Knowledge of Wholesale, Commercial and Retail Banking Financial Products and Services
