Our client is multinational Corporate banking company, with over 13,000 branches worldwide.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and implement a written annual compliance monitoring/assurance plan and lead the execution of such plan, ensuring it is carried out to schedule; or if schedule needs changing, work with relevant management to agree any change
Participate in the timely execution of the compliance monitoring/assurance plan. Activities include, but are not limited to, testing critical aspects of the compliance and financial crime risk management frameworks, and produce timely and accurate written reports highlighting issues and recommendations for improvement/remediation actions
Develop and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders to ensure that review findings and test results are communicated and remediated in a timely manner
Lead maintenance of the risk assessment and compliance assurance methodologies to keep them in line with industry better practice
Lead production and review of management information from risk assessment and monitoring/testing activities
Lead and manage a team of 2 staff: set and modify staff objectives and carry out regular appraisal of performance against these objectives; develop the knowledge and expertise of staff and ensure the team is fully informed of matters relevant to their roles
Represent Compliance Risk and Assurance at key governance committees and internal forums – both internal and external
Direct the Compliance department’s input into the operational risk RCSA process and oversee collection and reporting of compliance key risk indicators
Assist with implementing enhancements to compliance and financial crime systems and controls
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
At least 8+ years’ experience of leading or participating in an Internal Audit or Compliance Monitoring/Assurance team in a wholesale or corporate banking environment covering regulatory and/or financial crime risk
Excellent knowledge of relevant FCA & PRA rules, guidance, enforcement actions and UK Money Laundering Regulations, Sanctions regime & Bribery Act
Good understanding of Wolfsberg Principles and JMLSG Guidance
Ability to develop strong working relationships with staff across all levels
Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving mind-set
Highly effective communication skills (written and spoken)
A strong sense of accountability, of knowing what you are responsible for and proactively delivering it
