Senior Financial Crime Analyst (hybrid- 1-2 days at the Kent office)
THE COMPANY:
We are working with an expanding banking Group based in Kent, who provide simple and straightforward day-to-day banking solutions to their specialist customers. They are looking for a Senior Financial Crime Analyst to join the team.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for oversight and advisory activity for the first line-of defence.
Accountable for authorising inward and outward high-risk payments, particularly those with a sanctions nexus.
Ownership, review and authorisation of account referrals to the MLRO/DMLRO for new and existing high-risk customers, including those with a sanctions nexus.
Recognise high risk files, PEP’s, adverse information, reputational risk, and other compliance/financial crime risk triggers – undertake enhanced due diligence on these files and escalate where necessary.
Review and investigate referral of searches that display alerts for PEP, enhanced country risk or sanctions lists.
Delegated authority from the MLRO/DMLRO for suspicious activity reporting (SAR) to the National Crime Agency.
Ensuring that suspicious activity reports are investigated within the required timescales and reported to the MLRO/DMLRO and National Crime Agency as appropriate.
Receiving and promptly responding to enquiries from law enforcement agencies for execution of court orders or other legal orders, managing this end to end.
Undertake financial crime monitoring across all relevant business areas within the Business.
Responsible for completing agreed monitoring programmes as approved by the Bank Executive Committees.
Provision of training, AML communications and initiatives in support of adequate financial crime procedures across the Bank.
Identify areas of non-compliance with regulation, internal policy, business procedure and practice and agree remediation plans with key stakeholders across all business areas.
Support key stakeholders across Bank to ensure effective systems and controls are in place for the management of financial crime.
Ability to exercise oversight, knowledge and understanding of financial crime and AML policies, procedures, and control arrangements in a complex financial operation and in relation to charitable entities. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in all departments.
Provide day to day proactive and reactive financial crime compliance activity, advice, and support.
Act as a point of escalation for the business for financial crime matters, ensuring the business is provided with prompt advice.
Support the MLRO/DMLRO in ensuring Bank does not have any dealings with, or pass any monies to, individuals or entities detailed on UK, EU, UN sanctions lists, and US OFAC sanctioned designated lists.
Provide oversight of Bank product governance arrangements, responsible for ensuring financial crime risk is being effectively managed.
Assist the Deputy MLRO/MLRO in driving a strategy of continued improvement for third party systems, including oversight for the effectiveness of third-party systems managed by the MLRO including relating to sanctions screening, Politically Exposed Persons, and Adverse Media Screening.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Demonstratable experience of reviewing high risk customers and payments.
Demonstrable experience of conducting enhanced due diligence.
Demonstrable experience and knowledge of OFSI/OFAC/UN/EU sanction regimes and sanctions compliance.
Ideally experience in investigating internal SARs with subsequent submission to the NCA.
Good understanding of the Money Laundering Regulations, JMLSG Guidance and FCA Requirements; and demonstratable knowledge of how to apply these requirements.
The individual must demonstrate that they have a professional level of scepticism and challenge.
Able to positively influence and build excellent working relationships with 1st and 2nd Line key stakeholders.
Experience of being a positive role model and driving good culture and risk awareness.
