Compliance Officer

THE COMPANY:

Our client is a successful international bank based in the City, seeking a Compliance Officer to hold the SMF16 & SMF17 registers.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee that all transactions of the Bank are performed in compliance with all statutory requirements.
• Assist Management develop policies and procedures in line with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), UK Law and parent company’s requirements.
• Prepare and review certified annual returns of all employee activities.
• Record, report and investigate all instances of fraud against the Business
• Record and investigate all instances of claims of inappropriate behaviour/action against the Business or its employees.
• Check and verify sample of transactions, reports, documentations, tickets, vouchers and/or others that are related to the business and operations.
• Act as Liaison officer between Groups and act as Internal Auditor.
• Assist management to follow up outstanding audit matters, including the recommendations from external and internal auditors.
• Make regular reports to the Board of Directors and the Audit & Risk Management Committee.
• Manage issues concerning Whistleblowing reporting to the Chief Executive / Board of Directors, as appropriate.
• Present quarterly compliance status update reports to the Board of Directors and the Audit & Risk Management Committee.
• Develop and maintain the Compliance Monitoring Programme with reports to CEO and Audit & Risk Management Committee.
• Liaise with all relevant regulatory bodies, as required.
• Monitor implementation of the Bribery Act and update relevant policies & procedures.
• Undertake any special investigations as directed by the Chief Executive or the Board of Directors.
• Establish and maintain up to date the Bank’s compliance Policy Statement and Procedure manual.
• Update all relevant staff (Board members and managers, specifically those person performing functions under the ‘Senior Persons Regime’ and ‘Certification Regime’) with the latest relevant FCA/PRA regulation.
• Review Banks’s control processes and policies in order to ensure compliance across all the bank’s department.
• Ensuring that all compliance training for new staff members and the ongoing training of all staff is undertaken by liaising with HR Administration
• Retain awareness to all regulatory developments and monitor the day to day operation of the anti-money laundering policies.
• Respond to any request for information from the FCA, PRA or other regulatory body.
• Perform a review of anti-money laundering processes related to all transactions of the Business
• Take reasonable steps to access any relevant “know your business” information.
• Make external reports to National Crime Agency (NCA) or other relevant external authorities, as appropriate.
• Take reasonable steps to establish and maintain adequate arrangements for staff awareness and training.
• Review Internal Suspicion Reports.
• Ensure that the anti-money laundering policies and procedures are updated in a timely basis, as required.
• Make regular reports to the Board of Directors and the Audit & Risk Management Committee.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Must be able to work in the city office 5 days per week
• Relevant SM16/17 Compliance and AML experience from a banking environment
• Candidate will ideally have been registered with the FCA/PRA previously
